About UP Migrant Workers In Kashmir Forced Into Stone Pelting

At gunpoint, the tried and most used conversion tool.

Responding to a comment below by Deepak Vinnakota:-
"It seems pakodi job is not working in UP."

Eateries do well, especially in cities, all over India. But bimaru states are named bimaru for good reason. Feudal system is deeply entrenched, and rural poor haven't much family planning. Why else are states West and southwest, specifically MH and KA, flooding with migrants from UP and Bihar? Cheap comments notwithstanding, selling food whether on open roadstalls or in fivestar hotels is only different in expected salaries, at beginning. Haldi Ram began small. So did pizza in US. And in Mumbai, corner shop owners with only a stall selling paan have been known to own five floor buildings, earned via the paan selling. Respect for government job, disrespect for others not flaunting limos, are attitudes that belong to colonial caste system inherited from outside India by slavish mindset.

Responding to a comment below stating "they could have left" and more along the lines -

Parthasarathy Sukumar - presumably you are unaware of how tamilians around the globe were forced to contribute to LTTE, their families back in Tamilnadu being hostages to terrorists? Before LTTE was finished, that is. Also, do you think every convert is due to reason and superiority of the other, like the conversionist religions claim? That's plain lie. Choice weapon of one known in India was sword, other, bribe and cheating, but across the world both used every way possible. So it's not out of question that migrants were threatened, or for that matter locals, by terrorists employing citizens for stone pelting. You seem to think it's a piece of cake escaping terrorists who threaten you. Hope you learn better without personal experience to the contrary. Just think, and read.

Responding to a comment below by Shobha Chaturvedi "Forced? Then what about ur parents who forced u to study well but u never"

Shobha Chaturvedi, you are imagining that the migrants from UP working in Kashmir in lowly jobs - not IAS or comparable - are from your background, and their parents were forcing them to study but they were keen to watch tv or text friends. Much more likely, the parents couldn't afford school and had a hard time making ends meet, else the sons wouldn't be sent to a state hundreds of miles away, at border and torn with strife, just to make ends meet. Have sense.

Responding to a comment below by Gautam Dey "You mean to say that there are more jobs in Kashmir than there are in UP. No way! If at all these stone pelters are from UP, they must surely have been brought in and hired solely for stone pelting.....and the stone pelters in the picture do not look like being Kashmiris for sure!"

More jobs in Kashmir than in UP, sounds funny, but far too many more unemployed and poor, rural and needy, certainly, and too, illiterate. Bimaru states are called so for good reason. Presumably you are from or in Calcutta, at least familiar with it, do you not know what large number of rickshaw pullers are from Bihar? If they were promised factory jobs in Kashmir, would they be secure enough to say, no thanks? And then they'd find, too late, the real work! At gunpoint, too. The usual sources for jihadists to import slaves must be drying up, and rural poor of bimaru states are cheaper target than trying to convince faithful from say Africa.

Re Parthasarathy Sukumar

"Jyotsna Gokhale you are terribly misinformed about the srilankan tamils issue,",

thats neither here nor there, the point was people have been forced throughout history, at gunpoint or with knife at throat, due to threat to families, to either convert or to contribute to terrorist cause or whatever the demands be. The specific examples are not the point. Bye.

As to the personal attack against me in this thread by Pankaj Kumar

"Jyotsna Gokhale you look like suffering from some sort of mental illness. Is this your real profile?",

someone who, going by the attacking post, seems a highly illiterate person who targeted someone much older, deliberately, after reading the profile, perhaps such males feel emasculated seeing someone with more achievements than they can ever reach. Such are the typical persons these days in news for personal assaults against children, women, elderly, and more. That comment was reported when seen.
