Small correction - IST is not Porbandar longitude, it's Allahabad, which is as close to central as can be, taking the landmass into consideration. Yes, that doesn't help Itanagar, but it's not as bad as say Lhasa on Peking time, Madrid on Berlin time, ..... If India could have 11 time zones like Russia did or half a dozen like U.S. does, it would be different, but two is not a good idea under the circumstances.

This neglect by previous governments hopefully shall be corrected by this one, and there are measures being taken, aren't there? The time question is not unimportant, of course, but again, having two zones with only the North East on a separate one - won't it have effect detrimental to nation's unity? Perhaps India could do it the other way, and change to Northeast time. Not such a bad idea. Various countries do have clocks set ahead an hour in summer, so either a half year of shift or a complete shift isn't so disastrous.

Where the hell do people get off talking crap about Indian forces that are taking stone pelting by mobs paid by terrorist factory across border and using propaganda and more at the other borders! There isn't any country as free, diverse and democratic as India. Which is precisely why the beasts of terrorism are using every possible means to kill the last of living ancient civilisations. As for U.N., if U.N. never raised a finger to defend East Bengal or Baluchistan but does so for the terrorist factory, that tells what U.N. is. Obviously, as Tarek Fateh points out, there are a dozen secular democracies and over thirty islamic countries, so votes go one way.

It's quite hard to say just how disgusted one gets at the lying, abuses and screaming they do non stop, just so they won't allow anyone tell you facts or reasonable things. Remember the duo of Aa Ab Laut Chalein, Bhatti and Kader Khan who routinely broke the tv if the other team won? We usually switch channel to discovery when one of these frauds is on. Or if there isn't an alternative, just silence when one of them is screaming, quite effective. Sound back on when someone reasonable speaks. It works. And NASA files about unexplained stuff is quite interesting. Blue planet is wonderful but over.

I was quite sincere! Do tell about your home region, as much as you like. We might not quite be able to see everything in this life, but believe this, India's love of Himaalayan lands and India's integral relationship with history isn't a cliche - and we do recall Arjuna marrying princesses from North East, two, whose progeny was then on very much part of main stream. For that matter, often South too feels North unawareness, but it's a large country with so much diversity, that's precisely why it's so lovely. Can't say one knows every part, who can! But every time one sees another bit, its always wonderful.
