Re "We The Women: Smriti Irani & Ekta Kapoor talk to Karan Johar"

This was a delightful interview, of Ms Smriti Irani and Ekta Kapoor, conducted fortunately not by Ms Dutt the blot on journalist escutcheon but by a far more chaste than his normal Karan Johar.

My comments, including some responding to comments by others, below the video:-
................................................................

Was rather looking forward to hearing the two guests, but had forgotten how unbearable the journalist anchor is, especially after she (1) fought for right to telecast Taj attacks, and (2) argued for letting the chief perp in gang rape and murder go free because his age was a few weeks short of 18, at least that was reason given in public - he could become a better person, his mum needs him to pay for weddings of sisters, .... reality, reason for freeing that one was another consideration.

Watching this, don't know, perhaps another day if one feels strong enough, to push the disgust Ms Dutt evokes, down enough.

Glad decided to try, for Ms Dutt vanished. Ekta smartly shifts to the other guest and describes the first meeting, the audition for SBKBT, and lets it slip that she began her career with that - so Ms Irani made her! "Tulasie had to be somebody, when she opened the door, india would want to enter" 8:15! And it had to be Smriti, of course!

This 12:30 - 12:45 is why Tulasie was nothing but Smriti Irani, and people confuse her as a tv artist, but she only performed that one role which was shaped as she would find comfortable - she was always herself!

Calling Tulasie And the serial SBKBT "regressive"14:00 - 15:00 has always been fashionable, but that's the stance of people who are into denial - they would be shocked if their own moms and grannies wore bikinis or had gone drinking at pubs with guys other than their husbands! There is the small coterie of single people who arrive in Mumbai to find a career in glamour world, whether in films or tv or media or modelling or couture, and they pretend to believe Mumbai is what they live unlike their hometowns that are traditional.

They forget Mumbai has families, too, and those living in Mumbai but not away from their families aren't living the copycat life they themselves are, copied from everything of U.S.they see on tv and think this is his one is supposed to be "progressive".

Very right, Ekta Kapoor 14:00 - 16:15.

Wonderful, 16:15 - 25:27!

The accessibility Karan speaks of 36:15 - 36:40 is true, and it's across the board in this government, as a major difference from those of yore of the other parties - from contacting the office of the PM of India with a suggestion, to getting a passport, everything has changed from the previous hopeless attempts to a new instant, positive response.

Funny 40:00 - 46:15, Karan changed the topic, rather than chime in with his own variations of being asked when he was going to "settle down" - whether because of gender related difference of experience or because of his leanings, which of course wouldn't affect those asking!

SUPERB 53:00 - 53:47! "Most overrated politician?" "Let him become president - of his own party! We aren't so unfortunate as to have him be the president of the country!" And Ekta Kapoor rejoinder "I won't say anything, these politicians will be fine but I'll have to pay, but don't you think there is a lot of nepotism in politics also?" Hitting two nails with one strike!

"Is it an insult to our intelligence, when those that are doing the PR thing, presume that we are not wiser?" Extremely intelligent, Ms Smriti Irani 58:57, in turning the barbed enquiry, about the artistic freedom of filmmakers, into one about such media blitz about freedom of art being in reality a veiled publicity blitz for the film that is much cheaper and far more effective for the maker. Very true! She further adds 1:00:00 - 1:00:30 "we all know, but if I name the specific example, it will hurt not me, not the chairman of CBFC, but the particular film maker, so I'd rather not name the example" of such publicity stunt disguised as media hye and cry about artistic freedom, after she has said positive things about the said chairman and professed confidence that someone in that position is aware of law and works accordingly, not as per his own ideology.

1:10:53 no more watching - the woman who defended the right of a gang rape and murder criminal, a convicted one with no doubts or deniaks or questions, to walk away "because he might become a better human, and his mom needs him to pay for weddings of his sisters", has returned to stage!

Responding to a comment below the original yt video by Bill Brashierp:-
"How can u expect an uneducated become Indian PM at least respect the Institution. She is no where near Modi"
And yet opposition falls in reverence for someone not even half as educated, all due to axis DNA! Racist much?

Responding to a comment below the original yt video by raj k:-
"what was smriti irani doing at world economic forum. she has no relevance with education or economy."
The ex president of the congress is known to have run the government during UPA decade, with the files removed from office of the then PM at 5 p.m., over his objections, as a routine. Did you think she was educated? Not even high school. Racist, or feudal serf?

Responding to a comment below the original yt video by Achint Gupta:-
"Smritiji ko padmavati ke baare mein poochho na!!"
Did you miss the reference without the name being mentioned, around 1:00:00?
